Neural Signal Manager
NSM
The Neural Signal Manager is a collection of algorithms developed for analyzing and managing electrophysiological data obtained from multi-site extracellular recordings.
The extraction of relevant parameters from neural populations involves long-term measurements (from minutes to hours or even more), producing a huge amount of data as a result of a single experimental trial.
The pre-processing and the post-processing of the recorded electrophysiological signals, in terms of computational time and automation of the procedures, is actually one of the major bottlenecks for both in-vivo and in-vitro multi-channel acquisitions, based on the MEA devices.
Applications of well-known statistical algorithms, such as Inter-Spike-Interval analysis (ISI), and the development of new ones (Inter-Burst-Interval, IBI) are implemented in NSM, which can be used as a very efficient tool to investigate the dynamics of the neuronal networks.
